"Free
Comic Book" |
Flash Point, a science fiction and fantasy shop,
wanted to promote the shop and increase store
traffic. To do so, the store used 9-inch round,
jewel-tone latex balloons by The Pioneer(r) Line (asi
78200). The balloons were imprinted with the shop's
logo and address. To encourage consumers to visit
the store, a coupon for a free comic book was
attached to each balloon's ribbon. One thousand
helium-inflated balloons were handed out to the
members of a crowd which lined the street waiting
for a July 4th parade to begin. The promotion earned
the store a 60-percent response rate; of the 1,000
coupons distributed with the balloons, 600 were
redeemed. In addition, many people stayed in the
shop to browse after redeeming their coupons. |
