"Campaign
'96" |
In promoting its candidates for the U.S.
presidential election, the Democratic Party offered
Info- Pens, by Ambassador (asi 35200), to gain
visibility for their party's ticket. An Info-Pen is
a pen equipped with a spring-loaded flag that can be
pulled out from the side of the pen. When pulled out
from the pen, the two-sided flag provides 7 1/4
inches by 2 3/4 inches of copy space. The novelty of
using the spring-loaded flag encourages repeat
message exposure. The flags on the Info-Pens
included the copy, "Clinton/Gore 96," and
were mini-replicas of the highly visible bumper
stickers with the same message. The same message
appeared on both sides of the flag. Upon releasing
the spring-loaded flag back into the pen, the user
was left with a logoed pen suitable for everyday
use, along with a hand-held version of the campaign
bumper sticker that could be accessed when needed.
The logo on the pen's barrel read, "Campaign
96." The Info-Pens were offered through the
campaign's mail order catalog. The original order
was expected to repeat. |
