| To
reintroduce four famous singers from the 50's and
their new album, American Records began a TV mail-in
offer. The album was called "Class of '55"
and it featured Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Roy
Orbison and Johnny Cash. The album was made
available through a TV mail-in and in stores.
Posters and T-shirts were distributed to record
stores, radio stations and other outlets. In
addition, key radio stations were sent special
cassette tapes with interviews of the four singers.
The initial order of 200,000 LPs was sold out in one
month |
