"Experience The Difference" was chosen as the campaign theme targeted to 9,000 new and continuing students at three campuses to get them excited about Student Association programs. The campaign kicked-off with 2,000 theme imprinted T-shirts distributed as a premium at an on-campus pub with admission ticket purchase. At this and other pubs, key chains bearing the "Driving Impaired Can Kill" message were distributed. At the same time, 1,000 write-on/wipe-off memo boards imprinted with various student services were distributed at events and locations throughout the school system. To complement these activities, 2,500 fortune cookies with custom messages promoting the general Student Association meeting, pub nights and various association-sponsored events were distributed at a "Chinese barbeque" held at each campus. The campaign was supplemented with fliers, bulletin board messages, announcements and promotion within the student handbook. The Student Association president reported a 40 percent increase in pub night attendance and a 30 percent increase in student services participation. He also cited a decrease in drinking-and-driving incidents.
