The Baker
Agency, a Dallas-based advertising agency, has presented
its clients with a special T-shirt each year during the
summer and at Christmas since 1970. Giving the T-shirts
promotes the agency's hospitable nature, which is
important because it specializes in hospitality. The
T-shirts are also a fun and creative way to communicate a
message and they are gifts that are useable, said the
agency president. One such shirt was given to Baker
clients in the summer of 1992. The shirt's message was
"Red Hot Image '92," and it featured the
stylized six-color graphic of a surfer against the
backdrop of sand, sun and surf. Approximately 244 of the
shirts were mailed to clients, who always look forward to
receiving the shirts. Although the agency hasn't tracked
any particular sales increase or other specific results to
the shirts, the president believes in using them because
they keep the name of the agency out in front of the
clients. "It's always a good idea to show your own
clients what you can do," she said.
